AcuStretch takes an organic approach to treatments, often applying a variety of therapeutic models to facilitate the most effective changes. Reiki and Chakra Balancing are frequently combined with acupuncture or cupping. The focus of all treatments is on redressing any imbalances, whether these are structural, functional and physiological or emotional.
REIKI
This system of energy healing was developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui. Translated, Reiki means ‘universal life energy‘. Like all the other therapies offered, the basic premise underlying Reiki is that of an energetic body made up of pathways through which energy flows. Each individual is also inextricably linked to a greater energetic or macrocosmic field. Over time a person’s energy flow can become blocked and weakened. Reiki redresses these imbalances by using light touch and intention to facilitate the bodies natural ability to correct its energy flow.
During a Reiki session, the receiver lies clothed and the practitioner places their hands very lightly (or occasionally not touching at all) on various parts of the body. These areas may correspond to organs or glands, painful sites or chakra centers and are often chosen intuitively. The length of time each position is held varies on the feed-back the practitioner is getting.
CHAKRA BALANCING
Chakra means ‘wheel’ or ‘disc’ in Sanskrit. There are 7 common chakras. They are energetic centers located along the mid-line of the body which correspond to internal organs and endocrine glands and which have specific psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual characteristics associated with each chakra.
